Verizon Wireless Success Story?

Holy shit it must be my lucky month. First a positive encounter with Dell, now Verizon? Anyways, I had to write about it because that’s how it should work - if a company goes above expectations and does something that you didn’t even ask because they actually seem to care, you should tell someone else about it.

How touching.

So yesterday I almost started bleeding from my ears out of fury when I received a $400+ bill from Verizon. I’m not going to say I was super pissed right then, I’ll just say I frantically started looking for their phone number on the bill with the anticipation of becoming very pissed in just a couple moments. When I didn’t find the number, that’s when I became pissed. Apparently that’s just how they roll.

So 30 seconds after going to www.hardtofind800numbers.com I had a person from Verizon on the line. I explained my story - here’s a brief summary:

“My girlfriend went to Japan for a couple weeks and I was only able to speak with her during peak hours due to the time difference hence my increase in peak minutes usage. I was notified by Verizon that I was nearing my plan limit via SMS (which was very nice btw) and immediately called them to upgrade my plan effective immediately, which I did.”

Apparently, it wasn’t so immediate, in fact they waited until I was 200+ minutes over to activate the new plan. This might have been my fault I understand, but it doesn’t seem likely. Either way, the operator told me I was pro-rated for something or other and not back-rated for my previous minutes which were side-rated with the new plan for their over-rated service… or whatever. I didn’t nor do I still understand. What I do understand however is that she basically upgraded my account for the month prior replace the overage charges and excess fees with the difference in plan price (which was only $20).

The surprising thing is that I did not ask her to do that. I only said, “You know I’m curious why I have a $100 charge when I called to change the plan as soon as Verizon notified me. Could you tell me why that is?” You know, my mother always told me you can get more out of people by buttering them up instead of being a jerk.

I’m already overwhelmed with delight as you can imagine so I’m going to get back to my real job of playing desktop defense. As always, I hope this has been of some help to someone for some reason.
