Wordpress Meltdown

I wrote something this morning about Wordpress having problems with “unexpected maintenance” all night on and off. It eventually seemed like it went away but I just tried to check my blog stats again and I got this:

“As mentioned earlier we are currently doing some maintenance. Your dashboard is going to be unavailable for 5 hours.”

Good lord. I need my blog stats.

Anyone have any clue what’s going on and why Wordpress is down for so long unexpectedly?

Same here. It started being buggy last night and then when I woke this morning, just the message you mention. Nothing at all all day but it seems to be back to normal now. (Touch wood!) No explanation from Wordpress about the cause of the problem though. Made me realise that I am addicted to my blog though!

I’ve noticed that some of my friends blog isn’t available, yes. I have no problem though, as I run my blog on my own domain.

PS. Technorati is also playing up as well!

This is why I’m such a big fan of external stats (eg sitemeter). I also have my domain stats now as I’m running wordpress privately. I’ve never been too happy with internal stats, though I did try a number of stat-centric plugins when I was running earlier versions of wordpress elsewhere.

I also run Google Analytics on this site, but the Wordpress blog stats are RIGHT THERE! God I’m lazy.

Google stats are always lower than anything else. I use different stat counters, and they all show higher figures than Google…
